Every parent, grand parent, aunt, uncle, whatever should read it. Adultitis has caused to be so fearful we are not giving our children the freedom we had growing up. Tim Gill is right on the money – we need to free ourselves of the irrational fears and free our children to be children and enjoy the great outdoors.

Hmmm…time for a camp out I think…or at least a hike.

Who knew finding leaves could be such a joyous occasion?

And one of my favorite school memories was going to Buffalo Rock (a local park featuring two very bored buffaloes) in grade school. It wasn’t just a field trip; we had our regular classes, but they were incorporated with nature. History class focused on Native American culture, and in English we had to hike up to a high point overlooking the river and write a poem about the view. It was really cool.

I also think that more school teachers should start taking their classes outside… Who says learning only occurs within the four walls of a classroom?

Alas, I need to go to work now. Boring stupid 4-walled classroom. I wanna go play!
