You bring up a very good point here, Debbie!! I think “the world” does tell us that we should get everything we want and deserve. I agree with your servant perspective about putting others in front of yourself. I also think that communication is a major piece to finding peace in relationships. There’s a fine line and one needs to discern when to speak up and when to let it go.

Thanks so much for sharing your perspective, being a mom of six! You certainly have wonderful experience communicating with those you love!!

One thing that we need to keep in mind…
I think that we become very unhappy when we focus so much on ourselves. Over and over again the Scripture talks about “esteeming” others higher than yourself. I don’t want to sound preachy but I have realized (through my life) that when I focus too much on my feelings I start to feel like “Life’s not fair”. Personally I think that the key to happiness and staying and feeling young is to put others ahead of ourselves. Our relationships improve, those around us are happier and Life is generally “Good”. Take it from a Mom of six…Don’t focus too much on your own Emotions. That’s what the world around us does and they are a bunch of divorced, miserable people. It is a recipe for disaster….

(about displaying art work) I was SO touched by what you said and it brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for your words of encouragement.

I’ve got to say I was actually impressed with your blog (must say didn’t think I was going to be) but it’s really nice to see someone realize that emotional intelligence is something that “should” be taught but often isn’t!
Should you personally (or your readers) be interested I currently work for a company that “trains” (so to speak) adults how to be emotionally intelligent both in their personal lives and in the corporate world. We have open programs and company specific programs.
I wasn’t sure if this would be of interest to you or not … but we can all learn something if we open our minds.
