In wanting to get out and do speaking gigs, I did not give up the full time job. I work around that job (and I’m so very grateful to have it!). If one day I could go full time in speaking, I would know when that time is right. But the important thing for that blogger to remember is ONLY YOU can do one thing each day toward that goal or dream. Don’t wait for a knock at the door from your dream. Chances are you won’t be home. We must surround ourselves with the friends who have and give off great energy! Avoid the ‘zappers’. Those people who hold you back and bring you down. Do one thing every day toward that new idea. Just one thing! Know what will happen? You will start talking about it and acting on it and there is no way to avoid it. Don’t wait for the knock. Go out and start ringing bells!

I really don’t know how it worked, but before I even saw this post of yours, I already started to take action. Perhaps, asking the right question in the first place unconciously directed me towards my next step?!

Coincidentally, after I asked the question, various things have also happened in my life that were suddenly pushing me to “do something”. At least, to start now.

So it’s very interesting how everything is suddenly coming together to try and get me to “take action”!

Thanks again. :) I’m trying.

Thanks for the nice comment!

Each step definitely requires courage. If it was easy, we wouldn’t be growing. The true reward is to look back and see how much you’ve accomplished, things you never thought possible. It’s no cakewalk, that’s for sure, but the adventure and not having to deal with the regret of not having at least tried is priceless.

Keep on leaping!

I appreciated the commenter’s questions and dilemma and I truly appreciated your very wise answer.

Over the last couple of years I’ve seen a lot of dreams come true, but it all came with taking one baby step with fear and trembling, then the next baby step with fear and trembling and so forth. Each step propelling forward and each feeling like I was jumping the Grand Canyon rather than just taking the next step.

This coming week I take yet another step as I head out on a speaking tour for my newly published writing curriculum. Did I mention my fear of public speaking? Anyway, hearing you say that it’s all worth it is exactly what I needed. Right now it feels like I’m on the precipice of the Grand Canyon getting ready to take that leap, but by this time next year I imagine I’ll have done it and made it and I’ll be on the verge of another big step that will require all the courage I can muster.

I truly appreciated your perspective and I can tell from the things you shared that you have truly been there and done that! Thanks for setting such a fine example!
