Yesterday, a smashed finger kept me from all those busywork projects. I relaxed my spirit, watched a ballgame, took a nice hike. Result: clearer head, renewed spirit & great energy getting back into work today. Hey, and it’s a short work week, YEAH! :)

Rather than having them fake like they were sick so that they could stay home from school, (at which point I would worry all day long about them while I was at work), I let them pick a day to take off. They had one day each semester — and it worked beautifully. Sometimes I took my sick-and-tired day with them (as long as they agreed) and we played all day. They are all grown now, and they still take their sick-and-tired days.
