Good point, Tim. Kids definitely tend to expect the best, while adults…not so much.

U2 is one of my and my husband’s favorite bands as well. I first saw them in 1983 as new sensation here in the U.S. We saw them together 4 1/2 years ago in San Jose, CA and I can remember it as if it were yesterday. They opened with “City of Blinding Lights.” It was spectacular! I still have the e-mail my husband sent out to friends after the concert describing the whole experience, including the set list. Thank you for the reminder that all this doom and gloom is temporary. I post occasionally on my own blog as a reminder to myself and others to not let the everyday stresses of life rob us of the *many* years we have left here on this earth.

Good to hear you liked the U2 concert…I missed them this time around but saw them at Soldier Field on the PopMart tour…Very cool indeed. I also agree what you said about anticipation and getting older. It is unfortunate, as adults, we curb the anticipation so as not to disappoint ourselves. But, it also makes it seem like we are expecting disappointment.

The gloom and doom is so depressing and people need to hear that there is more to live for and hope in than the government, the economy, health care, or even sports. I’m so thankful for Jesus and the life he offers us here and now and forever.
