Minette,
I love how Jesus told stories to relate great truths to everyday people. One of my sincere desires is to follow his lead in that regard. Thanks for the compliment!
And good luck to you with your graduate degree. Your effort will be richly rewarded, I am sure!

Nothing less will do.”

What’s interesting to me is that Jesus says much the same thing on His way to Jerusalem. He’s on his final trip to Jerusalem and meets someone who says, “I will follow you, but first let me say farewell to my family at home.” Jesus says, “No one who sets a hand to the plow and looks to what was left behind is fit for the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:51-52) If you’re a farmer plowing and look behind you, your furrows aren’t going to be straight. You must focus on what’s ahead of you and not look behind to plow correctly and well.

Thank you for the real-life “21st century” example of this same parable. I’m studying now for a graduate degree in pastoral ministry with a Deaf ministry emphasis. As much time and effort as it takes, I know God wants me to do this. I also know He will let me know what He wants me to do with that degree when it’s time – and not one minute sooner!

Kim,

There probably is. But that doesn’t mean it’s NOT a 9-to-5. Keep looking.

And you’re right, it’s never too late…

I love this! I suppose it’s never too late. Now if only I knew what it is I want to do, was meant to do….I’m afraid I’ve been poisoned by the 9 to 5. But I hate it. I keep thinking there’s got to be a way to live simply and do something I love in order to pay the bills.
