I was inspired by your suggestion to make the conversation more fun and different. I work in a big company and we are so formal in our email communiation. I think that there is no life and energy! Every time the same structure and format. So I have decided to use my beloved phrase: Howdy doodle do! when I sent our a reminder about training to my colleagues. To my surprise, one coolleague wrote back to me saying that it made her smile and she thanked me for that! Knowing that I made someone smile for a moment really made my day! Such a small thing made a huge difference…
Thanks for this idea!

I remember hearing that song when I was a kid and I got a kick out of the rhyming names + words (didn’t know or care about the adult “context” of 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover).

I suppose you could extend the same rhyming concept to this idea of lightening-up emails? Maybe try to rhyme the person’s name or your own name when you sign off (though with some names (like mine) one is kind of rhyme-cursed!). Depends on the context of the email too maybe.

Don’t be grim, Kim!
Time’s a wastin’, Jason!

You could almost go “full Seuss”, if you were really inspired!

I have to say, when texting my daughter and she texts back “okie dokie”, it does make me smile!

I had a phone experience today similar to this. I’m still getting used to my job and trying to figure out which child belongs to which parent and what all the parent’s names are. I hardly know any of them, and I know none of them well.
Close to closing time my phone rang and it was a parent who had just left with her kids. She said she couldn’t remember if she had clocked them out and was wondering if I could make sure the computer’s attendance record was accurate. Without even thinking about it I said “Girl, I got yer back!” Before I even had a chance to think “what was I thinking, She laughed so hard that I began laughing too! She thanked me and told me to have a fabulous weekend.
Fun little phrases like that and those you’ve shared with us truly do make a person’s day :)
