I don’t know if you are aware, but my Mom is THE BEST MOM EVER.
She is the official #1 Mom!
I have collected the evidence right here for you to see for yourself.
Here’s one piece of evidence for every year of my life.
- Labor and delivery, late night feedings, cloth diapers, teething… need I say more?
- My Mom would refill the orange juice in “my baby cup” (as I called it), what probably seemed like dozens of times a day. I loved juice, apparently.
- After I “helped her” run her errands we’d stop at the bakery and get the best gingerbread men cookies, together!
- My Mom would take me to the park, just the two of us, and push me on the swings while my sisters were at their organ lessons. This was our special time.
- My Mom taught me how to say my bedtime prayers and she said them with me every night, as we kneeled by my bed.
- My Mom surprised me with a “root beer float break” when I was playing in the sandbox. She always had little surprises when I least expected it.
- My Mom came to pick me up at school when I was “sick,” even though she knew I was faking, because I was upset about getting a bad grade.
- My Mom would be my “patient,” when I played doctor and my “customer” whenever I played store- everytime!
- We made cut-out Christmas cookies together, even though it was a big mess.
- My Mom kept encouraging me when I was frustrated learning my multiplication facts. She’d go through my flash cards with me.
- Knowing how much I liked dogs, she collected dog pictures for me, from her job at the newspaper.
- My Mom tolerated my obsessive need to rearrange my bedroom way too often. She was so patient.
- My Mom consistently invited my family to a home-cooked meal every night around the table, with no TV.
- My Mom dropped me off and picked me up for every volleyball practice, not to mention driving to every game (home and away).
- My Mom encouraged me to get my first job (sandwich artist at Subway).
- My Mom “snuck” me into my first TEC retreat (Teens Encounter Christ), being a month shy of the age stipulation.
- We’d go for walks together around the neighborhood.
- We shared special shopping trips for my prom dresses and new clothes.
- My Mom showed me her faith during some hard times.
- We shared the experience of making a TEC retreat together.
- My Mom helped me make the transition from living at home to going away for college. She’d send me cards, call regularly and showed me I was “missed.”
- My Mom helped me plan my wedding, as we shopped for my dress, and figured out details together.
- My Mom collected goodies for my new kindergarten classroom (egg cartons, oatmeal cylinders, children’s books, etc.)
- Her support and prayers while we started our business were (and still are) priceless.
- My Mom is the best partner in Euchre! We laugh more than play!
- My Mom literally gives up her bed at Christmas so that everyone else has a bed and no one has to sleep on the floor.
- My Mom modeled how important it is to be a loving wife and daughter, as well as mother.
- My Mom prays for me more than anyone else I know!
So, there you have it. Tell your mom “thanks for trying.” The contest has already been won!
Congratulations, Mom! I love you!
