Thanks to a word that has been stalking me, I’ve found the simple solution to stress. Don’t let today come and go without doing it.
On March 17th, we're unleashing a crazy list of 100 things to do, make, or find. You'll have seventeen days to complete as many as you can. Pride and prizes are on the line, and the person with the most points shall be declared the winner and bestowed the title of Grand Shenanigator!
“I savored the moments I was given even though I didn’t know how many of them I’d be given.”
Thanks for this! Last night I savored time with a person, though I will admit I was a little afraid to because I’m not sure how much time I’ll be given with this person. Thanks for reminding me to savor it anyway. I promise I will!
In these uncertain times it can be a challenge to find anything to savor. Many people are facing tough times and have to make hard decisions. I would suggest to those folks that something that caused me to pause and savor the small stuff was when I was encouraged by my youngest son to clean up that garage (turned storage shed.) This experience allowed me to “find” a pad for our porch swing, a table for our dorm sized refig and a feeling of satisfaction of moving some stuff out the door and other stuff rearranged which gave the place a whole new look. Over the last few days I have savored the sight of a cleaned up “new” garage. Cost: FREE!
Hi Kim:
Great video with some important ideas…I’m reminded of a book I picked up earlier this year….called “Savor…Mindful Eating, Mindful Life” by Thich Nhat Hanh. I haven’t read it yet, but it focuses mostly on food and being mindful and thankful about what we eat. It also covers non-food related savoring and I’d agree with you that it’s incredibly important for our piece of mind and happiness. For me, during my current moments in-transition…I have been savoring the simple things. The things most people take for granted….right at the top of my list of things I’ve been savoring…food and walking. Those two things keep me grounded at a time when I might otherwise feel frustrated.
