In my house…RANCH is the new KETCHUP!!! My kids would eat ANYTHING with Ranch on it!!…maybe even Ketchup!! :-) This is not true with Ketchup….they don’t really care about ketchup!! :-)
Hang in there with the sleepless nights!! She’s probably just in a phase….she’ll grow out of it!! Sleep as much as you can when she sleeps!
I’m in the stage of pregnancy where I can’t sleep at night anymore….so I’m there with you on the exhaustion!! No fun!! Naps are my refuge!!! :-)

It just keeps getting better! Violently tired — great line, any mom can relate (dads too). You look great even without sleep!
Keep up the great work!

I would not have said ketchup was a food, except that I’ve made it from scratch before, and it takes a heck of a lot of tomatoes to make a small jar of ketchup!
My daughter eats it in little bowls with a demitasse spoon, so I try to stick to the stuff without corn syrup. We have the food service size bottle with a pump on a fridge door shelf, so she can get it herself and never gunk up the lid.

Great show guys, it is good to hear a little bit of Doug in the background… i’m am still waiting for that cameo!
Ketchup is not a Food, definately a difference between food and condiment! I don’t eat mayonaise plain. (well not all the time)
I hope Katie didn’t beg too hard to get a comic about her having too many pictures from when she was a kid! Still a quality comic!

Yay! These shows are always great…one of the highlights of my week! :)
I love kringle…although the Scandihoovian in me thought I might point out that it’s pronounced “kring-la”…you were pronouncing it the way Kris Kringle pronounces his last name, which isn’t the same.
The candy cigarettes reminded me of some friends of ours who had a baby a few years ago. When he was born, they passed out chocolate cigars. They were very delicious, and much healthier than your average “real” cigar.

PS. Happy Birthday, Jenna!

Little breaks in the work week to play are very important – “Darts with Doug” on Fridays is one of my favorites!
Mixing in extended breaks is a key for me too – like taking today off and spending the afternoon reading in front of a fire in my fireplace.
PS Thanks for the birthday wishes Jason, Kim, and Steven!

OK, you may need to copy and paste the link in the previous post. The parentheses seem to create a technical issue in this browser.
Here’s the Norwegian variety, which is rather different from the Danish variety…but pronounced the same… (kring-la or kreeng-leh)
Sorry for the numerous posts. I would use the “Edit” feature if there were one. :)

Oops…forgot to post the link… This is my last post under this video…maybe.

First off, the title of this show makes me want to eat a Kit Kat bar… anyone else?
I have to say I am quite excited about the poll turnout so far… I knew I would not be alone! Ketchup is a condiment!!!
Katie says
I would like to add to the ketchup debate….
It is a condiment.
I say this because when I think of food, it is something that can be eaten ALONE and if you eat enough you are full. I can’t even start to think of how much ketchup I would have to eat to be full (yuk!).
Doug Kotecki says
Food or no food, kids love ketchup. Ipso Facto it deserves its rightful place in this competition.
Should it have won? No way. But that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be in the competition.
The same thing applies to Terry Bradshaw in the greatest quarterback of all time competition. Is he the greatest no way, yet he deserves to be in the discussion.
Then again, would you classify Terry Bradshaw as a quarterback or a condiment?
Cubby says
Or corny actor? Maybe he is a vegetable.

I would have to say I agree with Doug…too many people are looking at this poll from a more “adult perspective”. If you were to give this poll to a bunch of kids I would have to say I think it would be a whole hearty yes that ketchup is a food…I make this assumption after many numerous babysitting adventures and also watching my niece eat ketchup like it was going out of style. She loved french fries but only because it allowed a tool to dip into the ketchup and lick if off. The end result being a plate full of cold french fries and a half empty bottle of ketchup. Much like it’s friend the cheese….the ketchup stands alone…..
Pinto says
A lot of kids eat paste, but you don’t see that on the list of all-time greatest childhood foods ;)
Becky says
Maybe it should be :) If kids were doing the nominating it might be included…hehehehe

I don’t know if it’s changed but I believe that when I was teaching elementary school there was a similar debate because the school lunch program considered ketchup a vegetable for their purposes. Technically i suppose it is mainly a tomato, but do I consider it a vegetable serving in a balanced meal? No. Still, that was the government’s take on it.
