Oh wow…I haven’t jumped in a pile of leaves in ages. Must find a pile of leaves soon. I do step on crunchy leaves when I see them, though.
I’m sitting here in a coffee shop on my snazzy new laptop, and just finished a pumpkin spice latte, which I was drinking while watching the show. The first video I’ve ever watched on this computer. Yay!!
I like the idea of monthly live shows, but I think you should still do the weekly taped shows. I’ve gotta have my weekly K&J fix! Especially now that I have a brand new exciting laptop to watch it on…
I was so surprised to get my t-shirts the same day Jenna notified me they shipped. That was way cool. I was a little surprised nobody commented on the rock-paper-scissors shirt, but maybe they’ll comment next time. I did get some comments on the Olly Olly Oxen Free shirt. (One person commented, “That takes me back!”) I’ll keep you posted on the Red Rover & DDG shirts (not to be confused with DDR). :-)
It’s always fun dressing up on Halloween. Not sure yet what I’ll be this year, but I’m sure you’ll be finding out. I also like carving pumpkins.
Once again, I don’t think I’ll be available for the next live show. I’m in the musical “Oliver!”, which runs through November 1. I’ll keep you posted. You guys should come see it! Once again, I’ll be too busy escaping adulthood. Oh well…

I’m not a coffee drinker, but your mention about pumpkin spice latte made me think of my favorite Starbucks drink: Caramel Apple Cider. Mmmmmm….

Although…hmm…I don’t think we have a performance that night…hmm…

This past weekend friends came to visit and we took a trip to Treinen Farm near Lodi, WI and traversed their awesome ginormous corn maze! It was so cool to look at the photos of the design (we also got to see photos from past mazes including a castle, dinosaur and pirate ship) before we entered the towering stalks! There were two boys (age 8 & 9) with us but I think us three adults had as much if not more fun conquering the maze!

Kim and Jason-
So which one of these things is on your “must do” list? It would be cool to hear about it and or see some pictures! :)

Must-dos? We’re definitely taking Lucy to a pumpkin patch and carving pumpkins this year.
Might try to roast some pumpkin seeds while we’re at it, too :)

Kim and Jason,
Just now watched your weekly show, and I have to say that I did at least six of those things last fall, which is easy when you live in the Midwest! But here in Austin, pumpkin patches are much harder to find, as are falling leaves (we don’t really have “fall” here, just summer and winter!)–and in Texas, apple picking is replaced with picking pecans, which I did every autumn day after school during my childhood. But just to prove that you can be anywhere to enjoy autumn activities, my 24 year-old daughter is traveling in London right now and the other day she happened across a pumpkin patch in a flea market, which prompted her to email me and ask for my toasted pumpkin seed recipe (I made them every year from our pumpkin “guts”). I didn’t realize that she liked them enough to replicate them. Just goes to show you that the seemingly insignificant things you do with your kids when they’re young are truly what memories are made of.
As for picking pecans–when I was a kid we did it for weeks because we then sold them to earn Christmas money. At the time it was a dreaded chore, because we lived by a creek and there were LOTS of pecans on the ground, making for sore knees and stained fingers. To make it fun, my mom used to race me to see who could find 100 pecans the fastest. But now that I look back on it, I wouldn’t trade that chore because it gave me hours of conversation with my mother about all sorts of things. And that sort of talk time between parents and kids is rare these days.
FYI, I had already planned to buy some apples and make a big batch of apple crisp with cinnamon sugar, butter and granola on top. Great with vanilla ice cream!
Thanks for the reminder to have some fall fun, wherever I am!

Sharon,
Thanks for the comment! I can’t imagine not living in the Midwest. I know the weather is nicer in other places at times, but I sure do love all four seasons — even winter! Kudos to you for finding some fall fun regardless. Neat story about the pecans and your Mom, too. Funny how our parents sometimes “trick” us into making good memories.
