Amen to that! My 5yo daughter has spontaneously put together a costume this year, involving mismatched clothing and an interesting helmet (?) made of two big chunks of packing styrofoam held together with blue painters’ tape and decorated with popsicle sticks and glitter. It’s quick, it’s easy, it’s free, and who cares if we don’t know what to call it? Though that last one really does seem to bother some people. . .

Fascinating, although it doesn’t surprise me that people would have a hard time not knowing what the costume is…adults like to put things in tidy little boxes and it frustrates us to no end when we can’t do that.
