An Adultitis Fighter is someone who rallies against rules that don’t exist and engages in ruthless, senseless acts of silliness that undermine Adultitis and its unadventurous version of adulthood. Once a month, we shine a light upon the most remarkable among us, holding them up as a dazzling example of what we should strive for in this epic battle against a formidable enemy.
This month’s worthy recipient of this prestigious honor is Corinne Hanson!
In recognition of their efforts, Adultitis Fighters of the Month receive a special limited edition print created by Jason, along with a certificate of honor, a sweet patch, and other Adultitis-Fighting tools. We asked Corinne some questions about how she fights the Big A and what advice she has for others…
What are some of your favorite ways to fight Adultitis?
I’ve been known to offer barbarian spaghetti or breakfast for dinner. I read books from the Professional Reminderer aka Jason. I do things I enjoy, like reading, gardening, and watching the sun come up.
Who or what has been the greatest influence in your own fight against Adultitis?
Well, I wouldn’t know about Adultitis without Jason, Kim & company. The “intentionality” of not getting caught up in negativity has influenced me. I may not do anything more goofy than blowing bubbles in the office, or flying a paper airplane at someone but remaining a positive person helps other people stay positive and grounded.
What is something you loved doing as a child that you still do in some form today?
It’s more a dream than something I actually do, but dancing in the rain is something I plan to do. You have to have a warm, steady rain to do it the way I want to.
What is your strategy for dealing with people who are obviously infected with Adultitis?
I try to unobtrusively stay out of their way. Near them, I remain polite. Or, if I know them well enough, I might blow bubbles at them. A bottle of bubble stuff is always accessible.
What advice do you have for someone who is feeling overwhelmed by Adultitis?
What works for me is to find my peaceful place, read tips from the Reminderer & his partner-in-crime aka Kim, and then Wonderhunt.
Anything else you’d like to share before the orchestra begins playing?
I am grateful that I’ve had the privilege of learning about Adultitis. I’m very infected, but it helps to know what it is and to be given ways to combat it. I keep trying!
Congrats to Corinne, October 2023 Adultitis Fighter of the Month. Thank you for making the world more awesome!
