When Was Your Last Unscripted Adventure?

Nature and kids. It’s a magical combination. I treasure memories from my own childhood, ones like rolling down that huge hill at Allen Park next to the Illinois River, and climbing the tree in my front yard on Shady Lane, with grandiose plans to spend the whole afternoon there. These memories get richer with the years, don’t they? One of my deepest longings as a parent is to provide these magical moments for our kids. A Promise to Live Big

In this new year I promise...to listen to the whispers of my heart, initiate kitchen dance parties, stay up way too late dreaming with my husband by a cracking fire, invest in countless guilt-free pajama days with my kids, listen to ocean waves in search of real wisdom, walk countless miles with my God in the early mornings, attempt to savor the beauty I see, smile generously, and to love bigger and bolder than yesterday. #Notarule Tour Visits the Great Plains Zoo in South Dakota

The final zoo on the epic #Notarule Tour was in Sioux Falls South Dakota. We got to plug into a literacy program at the Great Plains Zoo in which Jason was the guest author. He got to share some stories from Penguins Can't Fly, then read the crowd an owl book, introducing screech owls as "rule breakers!" Then we got to unveil the rule-breaking animal guest, Aries the screech owl. You'd assume it's a baby because it's little... nope! You'd assume it is loud because of it's name... nope!
