This is what happens to you when Adultitis takes over. This is why Adultitis is serious business. Get tested and spread the word. …
Kim & Jason TV
Stop Drinking the Punch
When's the last time you danced? Not a slow dance with your honey at a coworker's wedding, I'm talking about really dancing. Kick'in your feet up, getting sweaty, not caring about what people might think- kind of dancing? When Jason and I were at Epcot recently, the United Kingdom section had a Beatles tribute band in the evening. It was a hoot! People of all ages, various walks of life, from all different parts of the world, gathered around with smiles on their faces and enjoying the classic tunes. Ironically the people who most likely had never heard the songs before were the ones …
Escape Plan TV #5: Madison
In this episode of Escape Plan TV, filmed in Madison, Wisconsin, Kim and Jason demonstrate several fun and exciting ways to annihilate the Adultitis in your life. The ideas are all based on the world-famous Escape Plan. So here's what happens in this installment of Escape Plan TV: The duo takes a tour of an ice cream plant, goes shopping on State Street, tries on some, um, cheese, and spends some time lounging by Lake Mendota. …
So Long, Mr. Wizard
As you may have heard, Mr. Wizard (aka Don Herbert) died on Tuesday. He demonstrated experiments using household items and explained the science behind ordinary things. I remember watching his show on Nickelodeon during the 80's, but his original show began in the 1950s and was quite popular with the baby boomers. They say that the CSI: franchise has done much to encourage a renewed interest in forensic and archaeological science among kids; I would bet that Mr. Wizard did much to encourage the people who brought us a lot of the scientific breakthroughs we have seen in the last 30 …
Escape Plan TV #4: Northern California
In this episode of Escape Plan TV, filmed in various locations throughout Northern California, Kim and Jason demonstrate several fun and exciting ways to annihilate the Adultitis in your life. The ideas are all based on the world-famous Escape Plan. So here's what happens in this installment of Escape Plan TV: The duo walks across the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, visits the Charles Schulz museum, and stops to say hi to some cows on the way to the Point Reyes lighthouse. Featuring music by Ethan Elkind. …
Meet Lindsey and Elliot
Jason and I had the privilege of interviewing Lindsey Cox this week for our 19th podcast. The topic was "Enjoying the Journey as a Busy Mom." Lindsey had some wonderful insights to share which wasn't a surprise to us, after reading her blog for the last few weeks. Today marks the official start of Lindsey's year long sabbatical, which we discussed on the show. In our often overscheduled, busy, stressful day-to-day, the concept of pruning our commitments and consciously resting and slowing down is very inviting. Her actions are inspiring. You can read more about her sabbatical here. She is one …
Escape Plan TV #3: Colorado Springs
In this episode of Escape Plan TV, filmed in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Kim and Jason demonstrate several fun and exciting ways to annihilate the Adultitis in your life. The ideas are all based on the world-famous Escape Plan. In this installment of Escape Plan TV, the duo gets fresh with a herd of giraffes (they have some crazy long tongues!), become rebels for a cause, and climb a really big mountain. …
Adultitis on the Subway
This video, which I found over at Bernie DeKoven's blog, is a fascinating look at the different stages of Adultitis. Subways are typically filled with lots of Adultitis-afflicted people (especially on Monday mornings). At the start of this video, most of the people are demonstrating some level of the disease. As the music continues, those who are in the early stages of Adultitis loosen up a bit -- some even a lot. But there's one guy who must have a full-blown case. He seems genuinely perturbed and paranoid at first, and then kinds of warms up to a low level of curiosity. But he keeps his back …
Don’t Walk Around the Puddles
If you have one of those anti-bacterial hand gels in your possession, think again. Jason and I have been out and about enjoying spring. The grass is quite green in Madison, which tells you it's been raining a fair share. Spring brings puddles. Puddles bring fun. And wet shoes and socks, which is why at some point in our lives we start walking around them instead of jumping directly into them. What if I told you that getting messy and dirty is actually good for your mental and physical health? …
Moms are Good Sports
Let's face it...kids like to tease their moms. It doesn't matter if the "kid" is forty-five years old, the parent-child relationship welcomes some razzing and joking. Sometimes it's how we show affection. When Jason and I were newly dating Jason nicknamed my mom the "curler lady" because she would often have curlers in her hair when he came over. To this day it's still a playful joke between them. Kids razz their moms for their choices in hairstyles, clothing, and even driving habits. I'm sure it has something to do with the 20-40 year generational gap. Thank goodness Moms (in general) have …
