I have had the wonderful opportunity to spend an increasing amount of time speaking professionally. If you would have told me I'd be doing this 15 years ago, I probably would have died right on the spot. I was an insanely introverted kid, paralyzed by just the thought of a new situation. I believe it was Jerry Seinfeld who observed that, at a funeral, most people would rather be in the casket than giving the eulogy. Well, it's been by the grace and strength of God that I've been able to overcome some of my insecurities to experience a bunch exciting and tremendously fulfilling things. Like …

Speaking of Superheroes…
No, this is not a photograph of the late great Christopher Reeve...it's a flippin' statue! Yes, a painstaking recreation by Robert Causey and Robert Dullam. Funny, but I don't remember "Superhero Sculptor" being on the career survey my counselor made me fill out in high school...I bet these guys wish they wouldn't have wasted their time pursuing art and went into something safe and secure...like business school. Check out more photos of the Man of Steel and Causey and Dullam's other super creations. …
Insights From Jack Canfield
I had the wonderful opportunity last night to listen to and speak with Jack Canfield last night. He is the co-author of that obscure book series known as Chicken Soup For The Soul. His story, his ideas, and his enthusiasm are remarkable. I figured I'd pass along one of the tidbits of wisdom he shared, because it has to do with this thing called Adulthood. By "Adulthood," I don't mean the stage in your life when you finally stop being carded at restaurants when you order a margarita. I'm referring to the "Adulthood" state of mind – busy, stressed, automated, and unfulfilled. …
Can You See Music?
Have you ever seen music? I mean really SEEN it. I'm not talking about musical notes on a page, or even someone playing an instrument. Let me explain. My friend Sue is a sign language interpreter, and the other night I was at a concert in a church, and she was interpreting. There were times when I found it hard to decide whether to focus my attention on the performers or Sue. She not only has a way of translating the lyrics sung by the artist into hand gestures, but she somehow captures the essence and feeling of the music into her signing as well. She is so graceful and expressive, it's …
Driven
I have a condition. I don't know where it comes from or how many people have it. The only thing I do know is it seems to be common among entrepreneurs (spell that five times fast!). My wife kids me, partially in jest and maybe partially in concern, that I'm always thinking. It's true - my mind won't shut off. Eating breakfast. Waiting in line. Watching a movie. Sitting in church. Drifting of to sleep. Operating heavy machinery. Apparently my brain thinks these are ideal times to commence stirring this giant melting pot of ideas, inspiration, and analysis that resides in my head. [ On a side …
