Is Someone Else Achieving Your Dream?

Good humor has an element of truth to it. Really good humor stems from tragedy. (Think about Lucy endlessly pulling the football away from Charlie Brown.) Check out this article from this week's Onion: Area Man Achieves Your Dream CHARLOTTE, NC—After almost two decades of dreaming on your part, 34-year-old Stephen Hochenko achieved your goal of opening up a small bookstore and café last Thursday, coincidentally in the exact location you had planned to open yours. …

Speaking in Virginia

Kim and I arrived in Washington, D.C. yesterday evening. We had some pretty heady company on our flight -- former Wisconsin governor and U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, Tommy Thompson -- and we drove past the Pentagon on the way to our hotel. Pretty cool. We're here for a 8-day, 5-gig stint. Four are already full, but if you're in the area, you can hear me speak at St. John Neumann church in Reston, VA on Thursday, November 16. The program is from 7:30 to 9:00 and is suitable for all ages. Here's a map. …

Dodging the Fountain of Youth

Ya know when you’re shopping and you find a product that gets you so excited you can’t wait to show others your find? It’s so fun, isn’t it?! Well, this is how I felt a few months ago when I was researching new products to add to the Lemonade Stand. As many of you know we recently had our grand re-re-re-opening. One of the coolest things about being the “Director of Everything” for our company is the variety of things I get to do from one day to the next. Searching for new products is one of my favorite tasks. We are not a “children’s store,” but we do have a children’s section featuring …

Cure Adultitis

It's finally here. A thorough yet concise guide to Adultitis. Visit Adultitis.org, the official website dedicated to increasing awareness while providing diagnosis and treatment for Adultitis, the sinister epidemic that makes the Black Death look like a trip to Disneyland. Tell all of your friends about it. [tags]Adultitis, Black Death, disease[/tags] …

Passionate Living…to the Extreme

Our next podcast will feature an interview with Eliz Greene, a woman who had a massive heart attack when she was pregnant with twins. Now she travels the country advocating for women's heart health and encouraging people to live their lives with passion. We recorded the interview the other day, and we discussed the topic of wake-up calls (not the hotel room kind). How often do we see someone getting the news that they have six months to live, and suddenly that person ditches all of their fears and anxiety and gets down to the brass tacks of REALLY living life. Can a person do that without the …

November 2006 Photo Contest

Jim Schoberg won last month's Kim & Jason Lemonade Stand Photo Contest. His photo is currently making the home page look pretty. Plus, he won a $20 gift certificate for his efforts. We'll be running a new contest every month. This month's theme is "Christmas." Certainly you have a photo or two that could win. The photos that date back a decade or several stand the best chance of winning, but we're also looking for creativity, humor, and good ol' nostalgia. Enter by November 30th for your chance to win and become almost famous. Good luck! …

They don't have many boxed sets left. All of the proceeds go to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. …

Underdogs and Underpants

When you're a little company, you have to do things differently than the big guys. Trying to compete with Wal-Mart on price is about as smart as licking a hot waffle iron. I like being the little guy. I've always been a sucker for underdogs... There's no need to fear! Underdog is here! when criminals in this world appear and break the laws that they should fear and frighten all who see or hear the cry goes up both far and near for Underdog! Underdog! Underdog! Underdog! (listen to the whole theme song) Ahem. I digress. …

Crazy Horse

Today on my walk I saw something that sparked an inner light bulb to glow. It was this… Did you ever ride one of these as a kid? My horse was faded and the springs were very loose from the many rides my three older sisters took over the years prior to my arrival. When I would go for a ride I experienced a very specific combination of feelings. …

Adultitis Prescription: Giraffe Slobber

One of the coolest parts of Jason’s speaking programs is when he draws. I’m his wife and have the chance to see him draw all of the time and it still ignites in me childlike excitement and wonder. How does he do that? In the early years at speaking programs he would draw on an easel with a big pad of paper and a thick black marker. We’re fortunate that technology has grown along with our audiences and now he is able to project his drawing onto a screen using a drawing tablet and LCD projector. It’s pretty neat. I enjoy watching the audiences sit at the edge of their seats as they watch …
