WOW! What a beauty and to think my daughter caught this adorable one. I have no details because she truly keeps her professional life professional. Did she tell you that my mother’s name was Lucille thus her daughter is Lucy and her father’s grandmother’s name was Ruth. So I feel like your Lucy Ruth is one of the family. Congratulations and good wishes to you all. See you in church. Happy Holidays!

CONGRATULATIONS!! She is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!! As I was watching your video…I kept thinking she is SO LITTLE…she must be really small…5 pounds or so…much smaller than my kids were….when I heard 8 i couldn’t believe it! Its funny how you forget how small they are….they grow out of that newborn stage so fast!! I remember with our first son, I kept waiting for him to grow and for what he would do next….I wish I would have enjoyed each moment a little more patiently. With our 4th child I felt like every time I looked at him he grew!!! It goes wayt too fast! I agree…enjoy EVERY moment…even the difficult ones…she’s your little miracle!!
Also about learning that things don’t always go the way you would like. I remember being devasted that I had to have a c-section. I found out a week before, and all my images of a perfect birth were destroyed. But I realized that even though it wasn’t the way I wanted….I still received the greatest gift in the world….our son! And that was all that mattered!! Plus nothing is out of God’s hands!! Knowing that always helps!! :-)
We are SO happy for you!! You both look like your GLEAMING!! How WONDERFUL TO SEE SUCH a CELEBRATION of LIFE!!! I just want to hold her!! :-) She is beautiful!! Have fun and WELCOME TO THE FABULOUS LIFE OF PARENTHOOD!!!! ENJOY THE RIDE!! ;-)
Dennis Kunkel says
She is beautiful. Its funny how exciting it is to have a baby. You will enjoy every minute of life with your new little one. As far as the sleep enjoy the lack of it your creativity will be more colorful.

Enjoy your most wonderful ride!

Cheryl Hahn says
Hi you three,
What a wonderful (early) present for you Christmas of 2008. She is just as cute and sweet as she can be. Don’t you just love how a new baby smells?? Do you know that the mother and baby each secrete hormones that make each other fall in love?? This is absolutely true. I am kind of curious why her little chest is exposed to the air?? I suppose Mom was keeping her warm. She will look really cute in a little Christmas dress and a cute little bow in her hair. keep sending pictures. Please enjoy your little bundle every day of the year. Yes, it gets better. You really won’t start losing sleep until she is a teenager. Now, you can cuddle her and get her back to sleep.
Merry Christmas to all three of you,
Cheryl Hahn, Grand Forks

Carlo & I “met” Lucy for the first-time, via your video, together! She is a plumper! All roly-poly….oh, too cute! She’s too much! I know everyone else has said it, but I shall repeat: ENJOY & SAVOR EVERY MOMENT….especially during her first few months, because THOSE truly fly by! LOVE YOU GUYS!
Juju says
Absolutely adorable!!! And what a very lucky little girl to have parents like you. Much love to you all.
Mary Buggé says
Congratulations! The fun has just begun. You know I didn’t get much sleep either. My first child would be fast asleep and I would just sit there a watch her breathe and sigh, and with every breath I would thank God for such a wonder gift. The wonder didn’t diminsh with my second child either. They are now ten and eight and they still amaze me and I still am thankful that God entrusted them to me and my husband.
Lisa Schuebel says
Lucy is so sweet! Good luck!
Steven says
Yay!! In case I didn’t tell you already, CONGRATULATIONS!! :-)
She was so well-behaved. I can already tell you’re gonna be great parents. Well, maybe I should say I can tell you *are* great parents. :-)
Laura Schons says
Congratulations on baby Lucy! She is a doll. You definitely keep focusing on the positive side of life/parenting it is what keeps you going. I always looked at the baby/infant stage as one day at a time, then one month at a time. Each one a huge feat! Once they grow and change you miss parts of the last stage-so of course enjoy each moment for what it is. It’s all worth it, or we wouldn’t be on to number 3 in our family!! Congrats again.
Shirley says
Awwwww! She’s so cute! You’re so lucky! :0) What an awesome adventure you are starting. What a lucky baby. What lucky parents. Congrats! Congrats! Congrats!
Cindy Weber says
Lucy,
You are a very lucky girl to be born into the Kotecki family. Enjoy every minute with your parents. They are special people and I hope they never grow up!
Do you think Daddy will include you in the Kim & Jason comics? Just smile…daddies will do anything for their little girls!
Anastasia says
Happy one week of parenting from the outside of the belly! Your video made me teary – could you come live with me? I just love your attitudes! Jason, some of my favorite memories are of losing sleep gazing at Lucy and Hazel! You have your whole lives to catch up on sleep but these moments are precious – soak them up! O.k., a little of both (gazing AND sleep) is pretty important right now so force yourself to break away for any cat nap you can get. Is there anything I can do for the two of you? Please let me know. I’ll be in the office and on call tomorrow and would love to hear your voices. I’ll try and call over lunch break or between clients. Peace and Joy, Anastasia

Welcome to the world little Lucy! You are so beautiful, a true miracle! Jason and Kim, the best advice that I can give you, especially since I just had my second precious daughter in Oct is to imprint every waking momrnt in your brain. The moments are here and gone in the blink of an eye. Always keep a box of kleenex and a camera close. In a flash, they will do something so amazing that it will bring you to tears. God is really smart when he creates babies..when you are so frustrated (and it happens to the best of us), all you have to do is to look at that beautiful face, and all is forgotten. Congrats to the both of you and welcome to the hardest and most fullfilling job ever!

Kim, Jason and Lucy-
Thank you for sharing a wonderful miracle and especially before Christmas, you could not have planned it better :)
Children are by far the best gift for parents to have around, after all it sure allows me to be young by playing with them! To have that sense of family and togetherness is very precious. Tim and I enjoy every waking moment with all three of ours. Can you believe they are now 7 (almost 8 in one month), 4 and 2? Where did that time go?
In regards to sleep, every child is different. I can not tell you truthfully that you may not loose sleep in the next months or so, because two out of three of my children slept 12 hours through the night and they are the perfect little children. The third child (actually born second) awoke every 2 hours but I say that has to do with his weight as he weighed over 9 pounds. I am blessed by spending every minute with my children, homeschooling allows me to learn more things about them. Just enjoy this time and savour every moment.
She looks beautiful and to her true color…. pink. The miracle of a birth really unites the family and strengthens your relationship with each other and most importantly GOD!
Okay one last comment, from you to me on my first born and now I’m passing it back to you ….
BEWARE OF MESSY DOWNLOADS :) HAHA
Our love and blessings go out to all three of you.
God bless and Merry Christmas,

Congratulations, you two! I may not always remember Lucy Ruth’s first name, but I’ll always come up with her middle moniker — Ruth was my mom’s name. LR seems to favor her mother, thank God.
How well I remember the night I was born! I can still see the gas light flickering in Mom’s room, and hear the horse-and-wagons rattling by on the cobblestone street below. Dad was busy writing my birth announcements by candlelight using his favorite quill pen, but he would pause every so often to look out the window, hoping to see President Lincoln — who was rumored to be visiting Philadelphia that evening — ride by in his carriage. Happy memories, indeed!
May you have a ton of happy memories of this precious time with Lucy Ruth. God bless the three of you!

Congratulations! Welcome to the wonderful world of parenting. They change so quickly- document it all!
The most helpful resource that saved us from countless sleepless nights was a DVD by Dr. Karp (or Carp) called, “The Happiest Baby on the Block”. It’s the 5 S’s that sooth the baby…they are magical. But it’s only for the first 8 weeks so get it fast. I didn’t read the book- it’s all about the DVD.
Congrats again- she is beautiful

That’s crazy! I didn’t even know you were pregnant! Congrats guys.

Congratulations Kim and Jason!
We are so happy for you! Isn’t it wonderful to hold your newborn in your arms? Life is so precious. Enjoy being parents and have fun.
Children grow so fast. I wish I could hold Aaron again in my arms like I did 6 years ago. ( he was only 4lb 6 oz) However every stage of development is fun and exciting. He lost his second front tooth this morning and can now truly sing the song “All I want for Christmas is my Two Front Teeth” and really mean it!
Well, enjoy parenthood and love every minute. Lucy Ruth is absolutely beautiful! Congratulations! Have a wonderful Christmas with your new addition to your family!
God Bless,
Dorothy, Stephen, Aaron, Nathan, and Brandon
