The latest edition in "from the mouths of babes" category...perhaps you've seen these before, but they are still pretty funny. I try my best to write like this for my strip, but it's awfully hard to beat the real thing. BRITTANY (age 4) had an earache and wanted a painkiller. She tried in vain to take the lid off the bottle. Seeing her frustration, her Mom explained it was a childproof cap and she'd have to open it for her. Eyes wide with wonder, the little girl asked: "How does it know it's me? SUSAN (age 4) was drinking juice when she got the hiccups. "Please don't give me this juice …

Good-bye Wishes
On September 25th I blogged about the best reality show on TV, Three Wishes. This show consistently served up large doses of hope and joy every Friday night for the last three months. I am angry and saddened by the news that NBC has canceled the show. Tonight is the last episode. …
Tis the Season To Be Scared Senseless
Hopefully you've been enjoying the comics this week featuring Kim and the Mall Santa. I know I had a blast writing them. Jason stayed home this year -- too scared, I mean sick. The Mall Santa really freaked me out when I was a kid. It is comforting to know that I wasn't alone. SouthFlorida.com has put together a gallery of screaming toddlers, scared silly by the big guy dressed in red and smelling of, um, chimneys. The first few photos are from Chicago Tribune's "Scared of Santa" contest, and the rest of them were submitted by readers of SouthFlorida.com. …

You’re A Tradition, Charlie Brown
This year marks the 40th anniversary of A Charlie Brown Christmas. (Be sure to catch it on Tuesday, December 6th or on Friday, December 16th (8pm EST/PST, 7pm CST) on ABC.) In the meantime, don't miss this neat article from WFAA in Fort-Worth, TX. It offers some neat insights from Charles Schulz's wife and interesting trivia about the show, including the fact that the special almost never made it to air in the first place: The show wasn't well received by the suits at CBS, according to the book A Charlie Brown Christmas: The Making of a Tradition. After watching a screening, they were so …
Making a Difference?
This is my 200th blog post. 199 straight posts of my ideas, opinions, stories and general ridiculousness. Time to let you have the floor. Kim & Jason has always been about making a difference. Heck, it got its start when I hoped it would help make a difference in how a certain girl (who shall remain nameless for the sake of privacy) thought of me, cementing me as her Prince Charming. …
Are You Sloopless?
Got an e-mail today from the publicist over at Cereality (you know, the super cool cereal cafe sent from heaven.) I'm happy to report that they are franchising, which means that it's only a matter of time before one opens up in Madison and I begin eating all meals there. The location in Chicago is close, yet so far away. …
Must Have…Sleep
I've said this before, but if I had to guess, moms are probably the biggest group of Adultitis-havin' human beings on the planet. (Most planets, I'd wager.) It's hard not to see why -- they're usually the ones with the most things on their to-do list. And working moms have a propensity for Adultitis that is too dangerous for me to even speak of. The Guardian featured a story last summer about how modern mothers suffer more stress and get less sleep than their own mothers and grandmothers. It cited a poll that found that "the average new mother gets 3.5 hours of uninterrupted sleep a night …
Instant Cure
In search for a little peace this morning, I decided to imitate art. Actually I can’t take all of the credit for the idea. A friend of mine named Renee asked me to make a snow angel for her. She did her undergrad in Duluth, MN and now lives in Seattle, WA, where they do not get the snow that she was once accustomed to. I have to admit, the idea of getting snow on my wrists and ankles made me think twice. It doesn’t matter how many gloves or socks I have on, it is inevitable. “Kim” the character and I share that pet peeve. …
