Jason and I have been doing lots of interviews regarding our 12 Days of Wishmas festivities, which starts this Saturday already! (Are the weeks flying by for you too?) It’s been fun sharing about all of the childlike activities we have planned, things like building gingerbread houses, making paper snowflakes, and decorating cookies. One of the radio hosts made the point that it’s neat to be able to help kids, while renewing that kid within. Amen to that! One of the best questions has been, “What’s your favorite holiday memory from childhood?”
My answer brought an instant smile to my face. My sisters and I would plug in all of the Christmas lights, put on some classic holiday tunes and lie underneath the tree, looking up at all of the colors. Since Jason made this into a print, it’s been neat to hear how universal my memory is for other folks also.
Jason’s answer was also made into a print. Every year his dad would put a string of Christmas lights around his bedroom closet. He remembers falling asleep with the lights aglow to the sounds of Bing Crosby and Ray Conniff.
As the chill of winter overtakes us here in WI, it’s nice to have these warm and fuzzy memories to carry us through the added busyness.
Reliving your favorite childhood memories can really serve you well this time of year.
