A few weeks ago when Jason and I were in Denver we had the chance to do some of the Escape Plan challenges and Jason shared them in his blog. As you probably read in Jason’s recent blog, Adultitis: Ground Zero, we just spent a week in D.C. We managed a delicate balance of work and pleasure. Jason had five speaking programs and we had a few half-days in the city to sightsee and enjoy our nation’s capital. We had the chance to do a few Escape Plan challenges that I thought I’d share. Here are some ways to fight Adultitis in D.C. #3: Says You: Do something that is typically seen as …

Adultitis: Ground Zero
If you have had the opportunity to check out the new website put out by the Cure Adultitis Institute, you may have seen the list of Adultitis hospitals. In case you're wondering, an Adultitis hospital is a highly specialized treatment facility that is exceptionally effective in treating especially aggressive cases of Adultitis. There are many such hospitals located throughout the world. This week, Kim and I have been in the Washington D.C. area. Between speaking engagements and working out of our satellite office (a.k.a. The Hampton Inn), we have had a chance to ride the Metro rail into the …
Dodging the Fountain of Youth
Ya know when you’re shopping and you find a product that gets you so excited you can’t wait to show others your find? It’s so fun, isn’t it?! Well, this is how I felt a few months ago when I was researching new products to add to the Lemonade Stand. As many of you know we recently had our grand re-re-re-opening. One of the coolest things about being the “Director of Everything” for our company is the variety of things I get to do from one day to the next. Searching for new products is one of my favorite tasks. We are not a “children’s store,” but we do have a children’s section featuring …
Cure Adultitis
It's finally here. A thorough yet concise guide to Adultitis. Visit Adultitis.org, the official website dedicated to increasing awareness while providing diagnosis and treatment for Adultitis, the sinister epidemic that makes the Black Death look like a trip to Disneyland. Tell all of your friends about it. [tags]Adultitis, Black Death, disease[/tags] …
Passionate Living…to the Extreme
Our next podcast will feature an interview with Eliz Greene, a woman who had a massive heart attack when she was pregnant with twins. Now she travels the country advocating for women's heart health and encouraging people to live their lives with passion. We recorded the interview the other day, and we discussed the topic of wake-up calls (not the hotel room kind). How often do we see someone getting the news that they have six months to live, and suddenly that person ditches all of their fears and anxiety and gets down to the brass tacks of REALLY living life. Can a person do that without the …
Crazy Horse
Today on my walk I saw something that sparked an inner light bulb to glow. It was this… Did you ever ride one of these as a kid? My horse was faded and the springs were very loose from the many rides my three older sisters took over the years prior to my arrival. When I would go for a ride I experienced a very specific combination of feelings. …
Adultitis Prescription: Giraffe Slobber
One of the coolest parts of Jason’s speaking programs is when he draws. I’m his wife and have the chance to see him draw all of the time and it still ignites in me childlike excitement and wonder. How does he do that? In the early years at speaking programs he would draw on an easel with a big pad of paper and a thick black marker. We’re fortunate that technology has grown along with our audiences and now he is able to project his drawing onto a screen using a drawing tablet and LCD projector. It’s pretty neat. I enjoy watching the audiences sit at the edge of their seats as they watch …

Escape Plan: Colorado
Kim and I created The Escape Plan to work for anyone, no matter where they happen to be. While it was originally created to be a 40-consecutive-day program, you'll feel a little less Adultitis-stricken anytime you do a challenge or two. We've been in the Denver/Colorado Springs area this week, and in between some speaking engagements, we've had some time to do a few challenges ourselves. In the tradition of the CSI: franchise, I give you Escape Plan: Colorado. What follows are examples of how someone might solve a few Escape Plan challenges if they were living in or visiting this part of …
Finding the Golden Ticket
Recently Jason posted a blog featuring some tidbits Erma Bombeck left behind before she passed away from cancer. I have reread her thoughts a number of times. It’s almost as if I can’t read it enough. After I read her words I feel like I’ve found the “golden ticket.” It helps me put things in perspective and gives me permission to make sure I am enjoying each moment. …
Bad Breathing Causes Adultitis
Breathing. We do it 20,000 times a day and many of us are doing it wrong. Yikes! I read a very interesting article today by Christopher Uhl that connects breathing to stress. Ulh's article refers to information shared in Gay Hendricks' book Conscious Breathing. When we were little we knew how to breathe. We did it perfectly without even trying. …
