Is this a long-forgotten buddy sitcom from the 70s starring a bright-eyed boy and his precocious inanimate object? Or just a shameless plug for one of my favorite cool things at the Lemonade Stand? You decide. Either way, I think you'll enjoy it: …

Nightmare Dolls
Kim and I recently compiled some video highlights of our visit to the National Museum of Play. While we were there, we had the unfortunate displeasure of wandering down a spooky, out-of-the-way aisle which housed a display of frightening dolls. I put together a terrifying little short so that you can have nightmares too. Enjoy, I think. Visiting The National Museum of Play
Last week, Kim wrote about a recent trip to upstate New York. We were there for a speaking engagement and flew into Rochester, which is the home of the Strong National Museum of Play. This museum is a veritable Adultitis Hospital, and features many exciting exhibits, including the National Toy Hall of Fame. I have mentioned the Toy Hall of Fame on this blog no less that three times (here, here, and here), so it was a real treat to finally make a visit. I had a chance to compile some highlights in video form. Feel free to take a virtual tour of the museum. How many of the toys featured in …
The Last Lecture
"Never underestimate the power of having fun." This said from a man with three little kids who is dying of pancreatic cancer and has months to live. If you haven't already seen this lecture, given by professor Randy Pausch, do yourself -- and your loved ones -- a favor by taking some time to watch it right now. It is as inspiring as it is heart-wrenching. Don't wait 'till it's too late to really start living life. …
Did The Easter Bunny Let You Down?

Adultitis Case Study #6: Rabbit Eggs
Spring is finally here and Easter is this weekend. You might think that Adultitis would be inclined to take a few days off. Not quite. The Cure Adultitis Institute has released a new case study chronicling the extreme effects of the condition. Who knew the Easter Bunny could be so controversial? …
Star Wars According to a 3-Year-Old
Grown-ups have a way of complicating things. We are addicted to subtlety. Nuance. Shades of grey. One of the things I admire most about children is their ability to cut to the chase. They're honest. They tell it like it is. And they don't mess around with unimportant details. This video gives the rundown of Star Wars Episode IV from the perspective of a 3-year-old. One important life lesson: don't be like the shiny guy. The shiny guy always worries. Even 3-year-olds know that worrying is a stupid waste of time. Proof yet again that kids are experts at spotting Adultitis. …
How To Let Adultitis Ruin Your Valentine’s Day
Valentine's Day is just around the corner, and we've compiled five tips on how you can make sure the holiday is completely ruined by Adultitis. Just in case you were interested. Don’t waste your time making, writing or sending Valentines. In this age of e-mail and instant messaging, they are a terribly inefficient waste of time and money. And trees. When celebrating Valentine’s Day, remember that how much you spend on someone is a direct indicator to how much you love them. Likewise, the reverse is true. If someone can’t find it in their heart to splurge on an extremely expensive token …

5 Dangerous Things Your Kids Should Do
Gever Tulley is the co-founder of the Tinkering School, a weeklong camp where lucky kids get to play with their very own power tools. He's interested in helping kids learn how to build, solve problems, use new materials and hack old ones for new purposes. He gave a short speech at a TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) Conference. The speech was titled "5 Dangerous Things You Should Let Your Kids Do." Some of the suggestions? Play with fire. Throw a spear. Own a pocket knife. The current trend, suggests Tulley, is that the end goal of well-meaning adults is to round every corner and …
Fill up Your Bucket List
Tomorrow is the first day of February, which tends to be a hard month for folks here in the northern midwest . The Christmas lights are down, spring is still out of reach, and it's still dark and cold by 5PM everyday. Enough said. Ready for a jump start? Thanks to our dear friend Lindsey over at the Enjoy the Journey blog, Jason and I were inspired to take her recommendation and go see The Bucket List last Sunday. With the two lead roles being Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, we knew we were in for a treat. HOLY COW. I'm with Lindsey, this was one of the very best movies I've …
