How to Make Rainbow Colored Spaghetti Noodles

Found this on the lovely Pinterest. Plain-colored noodles be gone! Here's how you do it: Cook spaghetti noodles, drain and cool. Fill a gallon Ziplock bag one quarter of the way with water. Add food coloring to the water. Add part of cooked spaghetti and mix around in the ziplock bag until noodles change color. Drain, repeat with other colors. Place the noodles in separate bowls. To keep abreast of all of the other stuff we find on Pinterest, you should follow me. Photo by Henry Hargreaves …

Emergency Compliments

Just being aware of Adultitis doesn't mean it never beats you once in a while. Some days, it's all over you like leaves on a wet sucker. On days like that, a well-timed compliment can give you a little perspective and the energy you need to fight on. In emergency situations, this website will work in a pinch. …

What Are You Waiting For?

In conversations with people over the past several months, it was obvious that many people, businesses, and industries were waiting. Because of the presidential election, people were stuck waiting to start something, waiting to finish something, or waiting to to see what to do next. As if permission to do something amazing has anything to do with who's in office. There will ALWAYS be challenges, obstacles, and timing that's less-than-perfect. Guaranteed. What there will NEVER be again is right now. The potential for something amazing starts within. You want to SEE something amazing? …

Plaid States vs. Polka Dot States

What expert decided that states that lean Republican should be red while the Democratic ones are designated as blue? Sometimes I wonder if mixing it up might contribute a little bit of levity to the whole process of choosing our nation's leader. Because there sure is a lot of Adultitis involved as it is. How 'bout some plaid? Polka dots? Or maybe some periwinkle? Today's election is an important one. But may we always remember that while we should always take our duties and the direction of our country seriously, we do not have to take ourselves seriously. Living in the purple state …

3rd Annual Halloween Virtual Parade Awards

The 3rd Annual Kim & Jason Virtual Halloween Parade was another resounding success. We get more entries every year, which makes judging all the more challenging. There was wailing and gnashing of teeth, but when the dust settled, these were the winners: …

Hey Parents: What Super Power Would You Most Want to Have?

Our family dressed up like The Avengers this Halloween. It all started a few months ago when Lucy insisted that she wanted to be Captain America. (She has a thing for his shield.) Our son Ben is quite the grunter, so he seemed like a good choice as Hulk, and things snowballed from there. After the dust settled, Kim and I got into a discussion of what super power we'd most want to have in our role as parents. Since I have had many moments holding a sleeping kid with the remote control or my phone just out of reach, I would LOVE to possess the "Force-like" ability to levitate objects and …

How My Dad Told Us He Had Cancer

Minutes after a speaking program in northern Wisconsin, I got a call from Kim, telling me that my Dad wanted to arrange an urgent family meeting for the next day. We wondered aloud about the true importance of this meeting (my Dad has a bit of a history of overhyping things), especially since the day of the proposed meeting was the only one in which I'd be home in the span of a week. That free day was gold. A call back to my Dad confirmed that the situation was serious, and he was adamant that he did not want to tell us about it by phone. * Gulp * …

10 Recipes That Use Leftover Halloween Candy

Halloween has come and gone. For those of you that still have candy leftover from the big haul, I applaud your self-control. We try to limit the amount of candy that comes into our house because we know the chances of it lasting more than twenty-four hours is about as good as that moldy jack-o-lantern throwing itself away. But if you have some extra candy corn, Snickers bars or Reese's Peanut Butter Cups* hanging around, Curbly.com has assembled a great roundup of 10 recipes that use leftover Halloween candy. Check 'em out here! * Anyone that has any Reese's Peanut Butter Cups leftover …

Meet Duby Litvin

This picture of me and my hubby was the one we used for our annual Happy New Years Card ... we recently moved to Louisville, Kentucky from NYC, so being in the "redneck" spirit we decided to jump right into the southern culture!!!! yee-haw!!! Kim & Jason Nation is a playful group of rebels who share a joyful, indomitable childlike spirit and are not afraid to let that spirit come out to play! They’re united by a common goal of fighting Adultitisand the doo-doo heads who embrace its ideals. Quite frankly, they’re pretty much the coolest people on the planet. Here's one right now... • …
