I admit it. I'm a sucker for those "kids say the darndest things" lists. And I'm not too shameful to admit that I can't wait to have kids just so I can hear some original stuff firsthand. My friend Marilyn sent me a list entitled, "Angels Explained By Children." With the Hollywood writers' strike going on, maybe producers should just hire kids; the stuff they come up with is often funnier than the pros. The cool thing is that most of the times kids say something funny, they're not trying to be. It's not easy to become an angel! First, you die. Then you go to Heaven, and then there's …

Meet Diane Crotty
Our most recent featured fan is Diane Crotty, who was our December S.W.E.L.L. prize winner. Diane won a holiday candy bar cake. She shares, Thanks again for the fun treat cake. We had a great time eating it! Here is a picture of my granddaughter Makenna and me in my backyard. • Hometown… Since we moved several times when I was growing up, I just call the Midwest my home: Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. • My biggest dream… My biggest dreams have been met: I have a wonderful husband of 28 years, two children and their spouses, all of whom I love and am so proud, and three …
Gifts With Meaning
Ever notice how kids can often be the best gift givers? We trudge through malls, search countless online stores, and still miss that perfect gift that says it all. When I was five my dad piled us four girls (known to others as the K-Mart sisters because we all start with K) into our station wagon and headed off to K-Mart, ironically, a few days before Christmas to pick something out for my mom. I knew exactly what to get. No hesitation. I had heard her mention recently that we needed more straws... yes straws. Looking back on it, she was probably just mentioning it out-loud for her mental …
A Rising Star
In December, I was awarded the Rising Star Award from the Wisconsin chapter of the National Speakers Association (NSA-WI). Here's the skinny on the award: The Rising Star Award was created to recognize an individual who has achieved great success in the speaking industry early in their career and who has shown great dedication to NSA Wisconsin and the speaking industry. Aw shucks. I personally know some of the past recipients and I can certainly say that I have some mighty big shoes to fill. For the record, I tend to downplay my accomplishments. My dreams are pretty big, and I have a …
Being Honest With Yourself
Something we all have in common as adults is the need to exercise and the continual search for that "perfect routine" you actually enjoy and look forward to. I, like many of you, have been re-evaluating my routines this last week, with the start of a new year. We all know we need to be getting 20-30 minutes of cardio everyday- not just to fit into those skinny jeans, but for our heart health. I heard recently that if your mind moves at a pace that is not matched by your body, you will feel off balance. Makes sense to me. My challenge as of late has been the answer to this question: How do I …
