Do you have moments in which even when your family is together, they’re not really together?
Like when you’re driving somewhere, and everyone has their headphones in, watching videos, listening to music, or playing games on their miniature iDevice of choice?
Or when the whole gang is home on a weeknight but each person is working, texting, gaming or television watching from a different room in the house?
Most people I know wish their lives had less busyness and more bonding with the people they love.
And most people are waiting for their fairy godmother to appear out of nowhere and grant this wish.
Unfortunately, she isn’t coming. She bought a condo in Florida and is having the time of her life with her new dog Betsy and a handsome beach comber named Bruce.
The truth is this: you make time for the things that are really important to you. Period. If you want more time with your family, you don’t have to wish for it. You just have to make it happen. Put your foot down. Say no to the extra hours at work. Clear your calendar of obligations you only said yes to because you’d feel guilty if you didn’t. Help your kids limit their extracurricular activities.
Boom. Simple. (Not easy, mind you, but simple.)
Then what? Once you’ve done the hard work and have a few extra hours of time every week for so-called family bonding, what do you actually do?
That’s where we can help.
The whole point of the soon-to-be released Kim & Jason Guide to Cheap Family Fun is to give you the ideas you need to jumpstart the process of creating fun experiences that will lead to treasured memories and bring your family closer than ever before.
We’ll do this through a series of 52 videos (one a week for a whole year). We shared a sneak peek at one of the videos last week, and have decided to share one more right here. One of the easiest ways to create a little magic is at dinner time. Everybody has to eat, so why not make this necessary event a little bit more fun? Here’s one way that’s free and easy:
We’ve spent almost two years conceiving and producing this product, which comes out on April 28th. As you may know, we have written several books on the subjects of being more childlike and bringing more fun into your life. We could have just written another one, specifically geared toward families looking to have fun on the cheap. But we decided to do something different instead.
You see, video is all the rage these days. And these videos we’ve created? Well, they’re short, bite-sized little nuggets of our best ideas, perfect for squeezing in whenever you have a spare three minutes. And since they come spaced out once a week, they also serve as the little reminders you need to come up for air from the busyness of life to keep your commitment to more family time.
We love how the whole thing turned out, and we think you will, too.
It’ll be all ready on April 28th. We can’t wait! Kim & Jason Insiders will be the first to hear about it (and privy to a special deal as well).
In the meantime, try hosting an Accent Dinner of your own and let us know how it goes!
