Do You Love What You’re Doing As Much As This Duck?

Kim and I took Lucy and two of her cousins to a Madison Mallards baseball game recently. I brought my camera and managed to snap a few photos of Millie, one of the mascots, and she danced down the first base line jazzing up the crowd. It's an ok photo, but did you see it? …

Own Your Reality and Choose Your Own Adventure

Don't be "that guy" whose life has become what everyone else says it should be. Take ownership in your reality so that you can keep Adultitis in the rearview mirror. If you'd like more information on how to get a custom clay creation made for you, please email me at kim@kimandjason.com and I'll put you in touch with Kahley. …

Normal Sucks

We often crave normal. When you’re pregnant, you take comfort in hearing that the weird new symptoms you’re experiencing are normal. When you have kids, you sleep easier when you learn that your daughter’s peculiar habit or hangup is normal for children of that age. When it comes to pregnancy and child development, normal is a good thing. When it comes to just about everything else in life, normal kinda sucks. …

What Taking Pictures Taught Me About the Power of Play

The photo above is not some Photoshop trick. It's a real shot of me responding to a damsel in distress whom I heard with my super hearing. (Actually it's the result of dozens and dozens of violent leaps onto the bed hoping my camera and his self-timer with continuous shots feature would capture something cool. We almost lost Kim's bedside lamp and days later, my neck and back still hurt, but it was totally worth it.) …

How to Make Fear Flinch

Ever since launching the Kim & Jason Guide to Cheap Family Fun, it has been a joy to receive some amazing feedback. And a bit of a relief, as well. You see, when you launch something of this magnitude, something unlike anything you've ever done before, there is a little voice in your head (or at least mine) that predicts that everyone will hate it and they'll form a mob to hunt you down with torches demanding their money back. Might be an artist thing. …

Thou Shalt Wait 30 Minutes to Swim After Eating

No doubt you’ve heard the cautionary tale. If you jump into a lake or swimming pool immediately after eating, there is a very high probability that you will cramp up and drown or get sucked into the pool filter or get eaten by lake sharks. Or something equally terrible. …

Stress Relief Available on an E-Reader Near You

Apparently, ebooks are all the rage these days. They are even beginning to outsell books printed on paper, which I suspect is making forests of spruce trees celebrate with wild abandon. …
