Memory Lists: The Simplest Way to Remember Your Vacation Forever

Kim and I are all about collecting experiences over stuff. The challenge with experiences is that they are fleeting. Which is why we normally try to make them tangible in some way, in order to relive them again and again. Some common methods for "tangibilizing" memories are taking photos, shooting video, scrapbooking, and journaling. These are each excellent in their own way, but they also have downsides. With photos and video, you can easily spend more time looking through a camera's viewfinder than actually enjoying the experience firsthand. And others require a lot of post-event work …

PB&J Sushi Recipe

Sushi looks so pretty. But it kind of grosses me out. (You know, the raw parts.) Someday I'm gonna have somebody who knows their sushi show me the ropes, tell me what's good, and tie me down and force me to try it. Until then, this PB&J Sushi recipe, compliments of Jif, will fit the bill nicely and allow me to practice my chopstick skills. …

The Sweet Spot of Somewhere In Between

Some kids get more attention at school than they ever do at home. And not the positive kind. They spend more time watching television than they do talking to their parents, who feed them junk food, allow them to run wild, and don’t show up for parent/teacher conferences. Other kids are sent to the best schools and feel pressure to score high marks. They participate in a dizzying array of extracurriculars, with the goal of gaining acceptance into a prestigious university in order to embark upon a lucrative career they'll only marginally enjoy (if they’re lucky.) Both seem pretty extreme …

Thou Shalt Not Have Breakfast for Dinner

Somewhere along the line, certain foods got regulated to certain meal times. In many countries, it's become widely accepted that some foods are for breakfast only. Eggs. Pancakes. Orange juice. Waffles. Froot Loops. Eat them at other times of day and you're either a college student, a truck driver, or weird. …

Happy Birthday, America! Let’s Grill Twinkies!

In celebration of this patriotic day, we are dusting off a video from the archives. Enjoy this classic episode of the Escape Adulthood Show from a few years back in which we experimented with grilling some unusual goodies from childhood. Like Twinkies and powdered donuts and fruit roll-ups. Also, here are 4 Ways to Guarantee a Fun 4th of July! …

DIY Kickball Planter

So what happens when your trusty kickball -- *sniff sniff* -- gets a hole in it? Turn it into a planter, of course! Places where this would be cool: a gym teacher's office, a principal's office, a sports medicine or therapist's office, and pretty much any other office in the world (except the Adultitis-ridden ones). Here's instructions on how to make your own. …
